Following superstar Lionel Messi's incredible display against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, his teammates reportedly asked him a certain question after the game, Soccer Laduma reports.

Many were surprised when Messi was left off the final three-man shortlist for FIFA's The Best Men's Player prize after he had a season in which he outscored everybody across Europe's top five leagues.

A few Barca players and even opponents spoke out about the Argentine being left out, with Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis claiming the awards do not matter if Messi is not there.

The 31-year-old has responded brilliantly to his exclusion, however, by beginning the season in incredible fashion, having already scored 10 goals in 10 matches so far.

His Man of the Match showing against Spurs in Barca's 4-2 win in Europe on Wednesday seemed to serve as a reminder to many of his quality – the Argentine scored twice and had a hand in both the other goals at Wembley Stadium, and his teammates lauded him for his efforts after the fixture.

According to AS, his colleagues asked him: "And now who is the best?" after the match, and Messi was unable to hide a smile upon hearing the question.

With his brace this week, Messi has now scored 105 Champions League goals for Barcelona, equalling the competition record for the most strikes for a single club held by longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
