Acting Executive Chairman, Benue State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Matthew Mnyam has acknowledged the immense contributions of SUBEB Zonal Coordinators and Education Secretaries to Basic Education delivery in the state.

The Acting Executive Chairman said this when he interfaced with SUBEB Zonal Coordinators and Education Secretaries in the State.

Mr. Mnyam called for cordial working relationship among staff of SUBEB Headquarters, Zonal Offices, Local Government Education Authorities and enjoined staff to be dedicated to their duties as serious punitive measures would be taken against those found to be indolent.

The SUBEB Boss also directed Zonal Officers and Education Secretaries to carry out regular monitoring of schools by supervisors and head teachers.

He informed that the Board will no longer condone flimsy excuses now that teachers’ salaries are being prepared by the Board and given to the LGEAs for payment to ensure checks and balances, discipline and effective performance in Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.

In equal vein, he instructed the Education Secretaries to re-introduce Press Clubs in Basic Schools to promote literacy, creativity and communicative competence.

The SUBEB Boss said he has also introduced a policy known as “Operation Chase the Cheat Out of Teachers” which will be implemented in the coming Academic Session to make sure Head Teachers enroll their school-age-going biological children in the schools they are heading rather than send them to private schools.

In separate remarks, Chairman Forum of Education Secretaries, Mr. Geshi Philip and Zonal Coordinator, Katsina-Ala, Mr. Ityonah Othaniel, expressed satisfaction with the steps taken by the Acting Executive Chairman to revamp Benue SUBEB and promised to re-double their efforts.
